As we approach President Biden’s State of the Union address this evening, what can he say or do to overcome today’s extreme tribalism and division?
Martin Luther King, Jr, once dreamed of a world where his daughters would be judged NOT by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. In today’s “gotcha” culture, we find ourselves in a relentless blame game that instead focuses on our differences – dividing us by the “Oppressors” vs. the “Oppressed.” Competition appears to be more focused on the level of victimization than accomplishment.
As Georgetown Law Professor Jonathan Turley recently observed, “Down this road lies madness.” While this was specific to individual states attempting to ban candidates from their ballots, this was but one aspect of our country’s downward spiral.
Wake up America! Stop being manipulated. Whether by the rampant political tribalism or a complicit media intent on exacerbating the divisions, we are left with not knowing who or what to believe. Public trust in our alleged “Public Servants” has all but disappeared. Who fact-checks the “Fact-Checkers?”
Please respond with your own observations and ideas.
